Biomimicry is design inspired by nature.
Some say the answers to humanity’s climate change dilemma can be solved if we look to nature for inspiration. Nature is a complex self sufficient ecosystem that has developed for millions of years. The infastructure of human generations has increasingly damaged nature’s ecosystem. Now we must adapt our industrialized world into sustainable solutions. Phalanx facades is a complex multilayered cladding system, when applied to building exteriors greatly reduces building heat absorption. Phalanx requires no electricity, has no moving parts, can be assembled on existing architecture, reduces HVAC use; saving money and reduces a building’s footprint. As team lead for Phalanx facades I immersed myself into this project from inception to building my first business, to presenting for judges for the chance to win $100,000. The whole journey lasted a year and with the help of the Ray C Anderson foundation I was given the oppertunity to learn how to create a business, present infront of a panel, build a budget, and ultimately take one innovative idea and see how far I could take it.
